Hardware that is part of the part
Self-clinching hardware (often called PEM hardware, after the best-known brand) is pressed into a hole in the sheet and locks into the metal around it — no welding, and nothing loose to lose. We install it on our press stud inserter, usually while the part is still flat and before it is bent.
We also tap threads and cut countersinks. Large sheets and countersinks can also go on our 7′ × 14′ CNC router.
Getting hardware right on your drawing
Send a PDF drawing with the hardware called out, or list it in your order notes, and our team quotes it with the part.
- Draw the mounting hole in your flat file where each piece of hardware goes, so the laser cuts it.
- Say which hardware (part number), how many and from which side it goes in — a stud or nut pressed in from the wrong side is the most common mistake.
- Mark tapped holes with the thread size and countersinks with the angle and diameter.
